Amadeus Integrates Travel Data with Claude in Anthropic Partnership

Amadeus, the Spanish technology company that handles flight and hotel bookings for much of the world's travel industry, announced a partnership with Anthropic on September 3, 2026. The goal is to make Amadeus data and services available directly inside developer and agentic tools built on Claude models.
What was announced
The partnership rests on two pillars. The first targets developers building travel applications, who will gain access to Amadeus connectivity, documentation, authentication, and content directly inside agentic development tools such as Claude Code. The second is a plugin bringing select Amadeus applications into Claude Cowork, aimed at travel industry professionals, meaning travel agency staff, airlines, and corporate travel management companies.
Amadeus says it wants to deliver a single, consistent toolkit instead of the scattered integrations that previously had to be built separately for each booking system. In practice, this means a developer describes in words the feature they want to build, and the AI assistant helps write, test, and assemble a working application that draws on real flight, hotel, and booking data.
The role of MCP
The integration is built on the Model Context Protocol, a standard Anthropic released as an open project that has since been adopted by Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI as well. MCP works as a universal connector between a language model and external systems, letting an AI agent independently pull booking data, check seat availability, or initiate a payment without needing separate integration code written for each service.
Amadeus runs the booking infrastructure for a large share of the world's airlines, hotel chains, and travel agencies, making it one of the travel industry's key, if largely invisible to passengers, links. Opening up its data through the MCP standard means developers of independent travel applications can now build AI agents that draw on the same resources that were previously accessible mainly through complex, closed APIs.
Wider industry context
The announcement fits into the rapid automation of sales and service in travel. Tests of AI agents at airlines already show a system can identify a booking, understand a verbal request to change a date, propose new options, calculate the price difference, and initiate payment without an agent's involvement. Amadeus has previously published its own analyses showing that agentic AI is changing how airlines design sales and customer service.
For Anthropic, this is another step in building an industry ecosystem around Claude, following earlier partnerships with consulting and technology firms. Skift, a trade publication covering the travel market, has previously written about Claude's growing influence on the sector, noting that companies such as Accenture are building their own travel assistants on the model, including a system called Penny that handles planning flights, hotels, and car rentals within a single conversation.
What it means for the market and investors
The stock market reaction was clear, if moderate: Amadeus IT Group shares rose after the announcement, holding around 65 euros, still below the 52-week high of 68.70 euros. Investors read partnerships like this as a sign that traditional travel infrastructure providers won't be pushed to the margins by new AI players, but will instead become data and service providers for agents built on large language models.
For Polish travel agencies, airlines, and corporate travel management firms using Amadeus systems, this could mean faster access to agentic tools without having to build their own integrations from scratch. The Claude Cowork plugin could become part of Amadeus's standard partner offering within the coming months, though the company has not yet given a specific release date or pricing.
