Nvidia Unveils Deepfake Video Detector With Up to 94 Percent Accuracy
Nvidia introduced the Synthetic Video Detector at SIGGRAPH 2026, a tool that analyzes video frame by frame in 22 milliseconds. Its first commercial partner is Wowza, used in more than 35,000 deployments worldwide.
Nvidia unveiled a new tool for detecting videos generated or altered by AI at the SIGGRAPH 2026 conference. The Synthetic Video Detector analyzes footage frame by frame and assigns it a probability of AI manipulation, with accuracy in internal testing reaching as high as 94 percent.
How the Detector Works
The tool scans every frame of a video and produces a numeric score indicating the probability that the footage was generated or altered by AI. Nvidia says the system holds up well despite the distortions video typically picks up on its way to viewers, such as compression, resolution changes, or re-encoding.
In practice, this lets newsrooms and broadcasters use the detector's score to quickly classify incoming material before it goes through further verification. Nvidia stresses, though, that the tool is meant to be an additional signal for decisions made under time pressure, not a replacement for established fact-checking procedures.

First Commercial Partner
Wowza became the first company to integrate the detector into its platform, via its Video Intelligence Framework. Its streaming infrastructure supports more than 35,000 deployments in over 170 countries, making it one of the bigger players in live video distribution.
Using the detector's score, editorial teams on Wowza will be able to flag, prioritize, hold for further review, or escalate suspicious footage while a broadcast is still live. It marks Nvidia's first step toward building synthetic video detection directly into the tools broadcasters and streaming platforms already use.
Who The Tool Targets
Nvidia points to news organizations and broadcasters as the main audience, but says the detector could also serve financial institutions, government agencies, and critical infrastructure operators that need to quickly gauge the credibility of incoming video. The tool is offered in on-premises, edge, hybrid, and air-gapped deployment options, which matters for institutions handling sensitive data.
A Growing Problem
The detector's launch fits a broader pattern in which tech companies, Nvidia included, are building synthetic video generators and detection tools at the same time. A rising volume of fake footage circulating online, from doctored statements by politicians to fabricated event coverage, is pushing streaming platforms and newsrooms to adopt a fast mechanism for initial screening.
For Polish newsrooms and media platforms, a tool like this could matter given the growing amount of video used in disinformation, including footage tied to domestic affairs. Because the detector ships as a NIM microservice, local companies could in theory plug it into their own infrastructure without building a model from scratch.
The tool's accuracy declines as compression increases, something Nvidia openly acknowledges by publishing results across different compression levels. In practice, that means newsrooms won't get a clean yes-or-no answer, but rather a starting point for further human review.
Nvidia has not yet disclosed pricing for the service or a timeline for wider availability beyond the Wowza integration. The company said it is in talks with additional partners in the media and security industries.
