Ukrainian Firm SkyFall Unveils JetKiller Drone to Hunt Jet-Powered Shaheds
Ukrainian company SkyFall unveiled its P1-SUN JetKiller interceptor drone with an AI targeting module at the Farnborough Airshow, saying it locks onto targets faster than the human eye. The manufacturer claims the drone has already shot down jet-powered Shahed variants in combat tests.

Ukrainian defense company SkyFall unveiled its new P1-SUN JetKiller interceptor drone on July 20, 2026, at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom. The aircraft is designed to track and destroy the most dangerous, newest variant of Russia's Shahed strike drones, jet-powered versions that fly significantly faster than the classic piston-engine Shaheds.
Answering faster Shaheds
Since January 2024, Russia has been testing variants of the Shahed-136/Geran-2 drones fitted with jet engines instead of classic piston engines, and since summer 2025 it has begun sending them into large-scale attacks on Ukraine. The jet-powered versions fly faster and higher than the original design, making them harder to intercept with existing air defense systems, including older interceptor drones and fighter jets armed with missiles.
JetKiller is meant to answer that problem. SkyFall offers it in several sensor configurations: with an analog or digital camera for daytime flights, a version for night flights, and a variant with an AI module for autonomous target detection and tracking.
How the AI module works
The AI-based terminal guidance system, built by SkyFall's in-house R&D team, is designed to detect and lock onto a target from up to a kilometer away faster than a human operator's eye can. The module takes over target detection, tracking, and lock-on automatically, which is meant to shorten reaction time in combat conditions where every second counts before an enemy strike.

The company describes its long-term vision as building a unified ecosystem in which SkyFall drones exchange data with one another and independently detect, identify, and engage targets without requiring constant operator oversight. JetKiller is also meant to feature a remote-control system allowing it to be operated from anywhere in the world.
Combat tests and production plans
According to the manufacturer, the P1-SUN JetKiller is currently undergoing combat testing and has already successfully intercepted jet-powered Shaheds multiple times in real combat conditions. SkyFall says serial production will start in August 2026, with a target manufacturing capacity of up to 50,000 interceptors per month. The company is already training operator crews at its academy.
The scale of the declared production reflects the pace at which Ukraine must respond to the growing number of nighttime drone attacks. Russia regularly sends several hundred drones and missiles toward Ukrainian cities in a single night, and each new, faster generation of Shaheds forces another round of arms development on the air defense side.
Impact on the defense drone market
JetKiller fits into a broader trend of autonomous, AI-assisted anti-drone systems being developed in parallel by militaries in several countries, including tests of autonomous fighter jet piloting in the US and Israel's ELLYON electronic warfare aircraft. Unlike those projects, JetKiller was designed as a cheap, mass-produced, single-use weapon, built for cost and scale rather than the sophistication of a single platform.
For Polish companies and institutions involved in air defense, SkyFall's experience is an important reference point, since Poland is developing its own AI-assisted programs to protect its eastern border and closely follows Ukraine's combat deployments as the most current battlefield data against the same type of Russian drone that has repeatedly violated Polish airspace.
