Anthropic has extended included access to its most capable generally available model, Claude Fable 5, across all paid plans through July 12. It is five extra days before the model shifts to metered usage credits at $10 and $50 per million tokens.

Anthropic said on July 7, 2026 that it is extending access to Claude Fable 5 across all paid plans through July 12. The move keeps the company's most capable generally available model within plan limits for five extra days before it switches to metered usage credits.

What exactly changes

When Fable 5 came back online on July 1, Anthropic paired the relaunch with a one-week grace period of included access on paid subscriptions. That period was set to end this week and move the model to pay-as-you-go billing at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. The July 7 announcement pushes that cutoff to July 12, so Pro, Max, and Team subscribers keep included Fable 5 access for five more days.

Context: 19 days offline

Fable 5 and its sibling Mythos 5 launched on June 9 and were pulled worldwide on June 12 under a US export-control directive, triggered by a reported jailbreak of one of Fable 5's cybersecurity safeguards. The Department of Commerce lifted the order on June 30, and Anthropic restored the model on July 1 alongside a new classifier that it says blocks the reported exploit in more than 99 percent of cases.

Extending Fable 5 to every paid tier through July 12 puts Anthropic's top model in front of far more users during the window, before the meter starts and cheaper models such as Sonnet 5 and Opus 4.8 become the sensible default for routine work.
