OpenAI has officially launched the OpenAI Partner Network, the company's first-ever formal program for business partners. Announced in June, the program is moving into full rollout in July and aims to bring order to the growing market of firms deploying GPT-based systems for corporate clients.
Until now, OpenAI worked with implementation firms on an ad hoc basis, without unified certification rules or tiered competency levels. The new program shifts to a structure familiar from the cloud industry, where giants like Microsoft and Google Cloud have long run extensive partner networks with clear advancement thresholds and financial benefits.
Three Tiers and Advancement Criteria
Partners will progress through three tiers: Select, Advanced, and Elite. Advancement depends on sales performance, technical competence, engagement in co-selling with OpenAI, and documented experience deploying production solutions for end clients. The higher the tier, the greater the access to OpenAI's training resources, marketing funds, and technical support.
The company has also introduced specializations meant to signal deeper expertise in specific areas: Codex as a coding tool, cybersecurity, and AI agents. These are the areas where OpenAI is currently seeing the fastest growth in demand among business clients.
Who Can Join
The program is meant to include both global consulting firms like Accenture and Boston Consulting Group, as well as smaller integrators with 100-150 employees. According to a report by ITReseller.pl, the key criterion is not company size but a documented ability to deploy real solutions based on OpenAI models for clients, rather than mere declared familiarity with the technology.
OpenAI has also launched a pilot Forward Deployed Experts program, aimed at partners handling complex enterprise deployments. It provides access to ready-made deployment playbooks, digital transformation patterns, and direct support from OpenAI engineers on the most challenging projects.
Who Is Behind the Program
Building the partner network falls to Colleen Kapase, former head of Google Cloud's partner programs, who joined OpenAI as vice president of global strategic partnerships and ecosystem. Her recruitment from a rival cloud provider signals that OpenAI treats building an indirect sales channel as a strategic priority, not an afterthought to direct sales.

Impact on the IT Market
For consulting and integration firms, including those in Poland, the program offers a chance to formally validate their competence in working with OpenAI models and gain access to co-selling with a giant whose solutions are already integrated with platforms such as Amazon Bedrock. That could lower the barrier to entry for smaller, specialized firms that have so far competed with large players without vendor marketing support.
On the other hand, the growing number of certified partners, ultimately targeting 300,000 consultants, also means greater price competition in the AI deployment market. Companies that fail to obtain top-tier certification in time may find it harder to win corporate contracts, as clients increasingly ask about a vendor's partner status.
OpenAI also states that its base of roughly 900 million weekly active users creates room for further revenue growth from enterprise integrations, with the partner program set to be one of the monetization channels ahead of the company's planned 2026 stock market debut.
