AMD to Invest $1 Billion in Meta's Equity Offering as Helios Systems Enter Testing

AMD said it will invest $1 billion in Meta's equity offering. The first Helios rack-scale systems are already installed and being tested at Meta.
AMD announced on October 27, 2026 that it will invest $1 billion in Meta's equity offering. In the same release, the company said the first Helios rack-scale systems are already installed and being tested in Meta's infrastructure, with a broader deployment expected in the near future.
What was announced
According to AMD's release, the companies are deepening an existing partnership that spans EPYC processors, Instinct GPUs and open software. The centerpiece is the Helios rack-scale system, which is already installed at Meta and undergoing tests. The release says Helios is meant to power Meta's models and services, but the broad rollout is so far only an announcement.
The $1 billion investment is a stake in Meta's equity offering. The release does not give the share price, timing or size of the package, so it is unclear how large a holding AMD will take.
CPUs and GPUs
AMD says Meta has deployed millions of EPYC processors across multiple generations and is a lead customer for 6th Gen EPYC. The processors support the dedicated computing environments behind Muse, Meta's personal AI agent. The companies are also working on future generations, including one called Verano.
Instinct GPUs are in production at Meta for training and for ranking and recommendation systems. Meta was an early definition customer for the MI450 architecture and will deploy a custom AMD Instinct GPU optimized for its workloads. The work is also expected to inform the MI500 series and future rack-scale systems.
Software and Muse models
The companies have extended their software collaboration to large-scale AI training. They are optimizing recommendation models on Instinct MI350X GPUs and contributing improvements to PyTorch, Triton and ROCm.
AMD also provides Day-0 support for Meta's models. Muse Spark Open is set to run on Instinct GPUs, and Muse Glimmer on Ryzen AI PCs and Radeon GPUs.

Caveats and context
The release carries the standard cautionary statement on forward-looking statements. It covers, among other things, the broader Helios deployment, future EPYC generations, the MI500 series and the alignment of roadmaps with Meta's workloads. Among risk factors, AMD lists competition, the cyclical nature of the semiconductor industry, product timing and performance, supply constraints (including memory) and the loss of a significant customer.
For readers in Poland, this is mainly a signal about the balance of power in the accelerator market: Meta, which is building AI infrastructure at gigawatt scale, is testing AMD's solution at full-rack scale, while the supplier simultaneously takes an equity stake in its customer. The release does not disclose order values or a delivery schedule for Helios, so the full financial scale of the partnership remains unknown.
